What are the requirements for signing documents?

Please bring with you either of the following:

  • A valid government-issued ID with photo
  • Driver’s license
  • Passport
  • ARC (Alien’s Registration Card or Temporary/Permanent Residence permit with photo)

NOTE: Copies are not acceptedunless the client is an asylum seeker,whereby a copy of their passport certified by the Aliens Immigration Officer in original and Confirmation of Submission of an Allocation for International Protection in Original. No copies are accepted.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Although we are sometimes able to accommodate walk-in clients, it is preferable to book an appointment in advance to make sure the Certifying Officer will be available to see you.

This allows us to ensure we have all the necessary documents in advance, so the appointment is as brief as possible.

What is a Power of Attorney?

A Power of Attorney is a legal document that gives someone else the right to make decisions on your behalf. 

Are there different kinds of Power of Attorney

Yes. General Power of Attorney and Special Power of Attorney.

Is a Power of Attorney the same thing as a "Last Will & Testament"?

No. Your Last Will and Testament covers the distribution of your property after you die and only takes effect upon your death.

A Power of Attorney only applies while you are alive and ceases to be effective upon your death.

Does the Consent Letter for Minors traveling abroad needs Certification?

Yes, to be valid document and accepted in by the immigration authorities in different airports the Consent letter needs to be certified by Certifying Officer.
